Everest
gamified step tracker
A step tracker that turns your steps into badges named after real places: the Golden Gate Bridge, a mountain pass, Everest from sea level at 1.6 million steps.
A step counter shows you a number. Everest converts that number into 36 badges across daily, weekly and all-time tiers, each one priced in real distance at 0.75 m per step, so a threshold means something you can picture. Steps come from HealthKit on iOS and Health Connect on Android, and a background sync unlocks badges without opening the app.
No account and no signup: the device holds an anonymous ID, and a small self-hosted API keeps the daily totals. I build the app, the backend and the site.
